House History
The Windsor Carlton is one of eight semi-detached villas in Alexandra Gardens. Set in an elevated position overlooking the sea they were built in 1883/84 on the site of Ventnor Mill and pond.

There had been a Mill on the site since c1300 – in various forms- the Mill site had a number of buildings including a bake house, stables, piggery and various out buildings.
By 1864 the Mill and property had deteriorated into such disrepair that the site was an eyesore. The local Council debated for over a year on the Mills future.
